My research field is bioinformatics related to genome analysis. I have determined the genome sequences of several kinds of plants (crops) and bacteria. Furthermore, I investigate variation of genome sequences among plants or cultivars by computational approaches.

I have determined the draft genome sequences of several crops, such as eggplant, radish, eucalyptus, jatropha, strawberry, by using sequence data from next-generation sequencers (NGSs). Furthermore, I investigate the DNA polymorphism among the cultivars in tomato, and predicted the mutation effects on gene functions.



Recently, technologies of DNA sequencer and array have been rapidly progressed, and huge amount of data can be obtained. The genome information analysis will be more important in many research fields.
