Recent Activities

In recent years, genome analysis has revealed the presence of plasmids carrying genes related to environmental pollutant degradation and antibiotic resistance. Plasmids are capable of transferring between bacterial cells through conjugative transfer. Bacteria that acquire these plasmids can become new environmental pollutant degraders or antibiotic-resistant strains. I am conducting research aimed at understanding the molecular mechanism of conjugative transfer with the goal of efficiently cultivating environmental pollutant-degrading bacteria and suppressing the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
