Recent Activities

I am studying how physical dynamics of watershed (such as water, sediment, and wood) as well as biological dynamics (migration of insects, shrimps, fishes etc) sustain stream and riparian ecosystems. By field-based observations, surveys, and experiments in various parts of the world, I investigate how natural watershed ecosystems work.

Message to Students

What is your favorite organism? Where and how do they live? How are their habitat maintained in the nature, and how are they sustained in the current landscape? Your love to the nature is an important motivation for ecological research. Through discussing with your colleagues who love diverse organisms, you learn various aspects of the nature. We look forward to seeing you!
