なお、2025年度に併給不可の他奨学金について受給決定の者ならびに申請中（直接応募含む）の者については、原則として選考対象外としますのでご留意願います。

募集要項・Application Guidelines (JP)
応募資格：※詳細は募集要項参照のこと
・専門分野：生命科学部門、生命科学と他分野の融合部門
・2025年9月から2026年4月に大学院博士課程（前期・後期）に入学予定の者、あるいは既に在籍している者
※既に在籍している者は、助成開始時点での在籍残期間が1年以上の者
・募集開始時点で日本での滞在期間が3年以内の者
・申請時に確実に日本にいる者
・募集開始時点で39歳以下の者
・他機関、財団の10万円（月額）を超える奨学金との重複受給は不可
※本応募において、「申請者」は受入責任者（指導教員等）、「助成金交付対象者」は受給者（留学生）を指します。
※申請時点で大学院入試を受験していない者でも応募は可能ですが、不合格となった場合は申請の取り下げが必要になります。
※申請は受入責任者（指導教員等）が、個人アドレスで申請することが求められております。申請手続きは留学生課で行います。

※ 来日研究助成となっておりますが、一般の奨学金と同様に生活費等に使用可能です。

※既に大学院に在籍中および2025年の秋入学（前期課程から後期課程進学を含む）の者は、2026年1月からの助成とする。また、2026年4月入学（前期課程から後期課程進学を含む）の者は2026年4月からの助成とする。

The Uehara Memorial Foundation for Life Sciences has announced a call for applications for the 2025 International Research Student Grant. If you wish to apply, please submit your application documents to the Academic Affairs Section of the Graduate School of Life Sciences by Friday, August 8, 2025. If you anticipate difficulty meeting this deadline, please consult us.
Please note, that as a general rule, applicants who have already been approved for or are currently applying for other scholarships (including direct applications) that are not compatible with this scholarship (i.e., those that prohibit concurrent receipt) for the 2025 academic year will not be selected.
Application Guidelines

Eligibility: *Please refer to the Application Guidelines for full details.
- Field of Study: Life Sciences or interdisciplinary fields integrating Life Sciences with other disciplines.
- Applicants must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a master's or doctoral program in October 2025 or April 2026.
- For currently enrolled students, the remaining period of enrollment at the start of the grant must be one year or more.
- Must have been residing in Japan for less than 3 years at the start of the application period.
- Must be residing in Japan at the time of application.
- Must be 39 years old or younger at the start of the application period.
- Cannot concurrently receive other scholarships from institutions or foundations exceeding 100,000 JPY per month.
* In this application, "applicant" refers to the faculty member (supervisor), and "grant recipient" refers to the scholarship recipient (international student).
* Even if you have not yet taken the graduate school entrance examination at the time of application, you may still apply. However, if you fail the examination, you will need to withdraw your application.
* The application must be submitted by the accepting faculty member (supervisor) using their personal email address. The actual application procedure will be handled by the International Student Affairs Section.
Amount of financial support: 150,000 JPY/month
* Although this is classified as a "research grant for international students," it can be used for living expenses, similar to general scholarships.
Grant period: Up to 2 years.
- For students already enrolled in a graduate program or enrolling in Fall 2025 (including advancement from Master's to Doctoral program), the grant will start from January 2026.
- For students enrolling in April 2026 (including advancement from Master's to Doctoral program), the grant will start from April 2026.
